After spending the majority of last season out through injury, Sydney FC defender Pedj Bojic is happy to be back playing under Head Coach Graham Arnold as he eyes off 100% fitness ahead of the season kick off on October 11.
Having gained more valuable minutes in Sydney FC’s 3-1 victory over Northern Fury FC, Bojic has already matched the amount of playing time he racked up last season and the right back has a simple mantra he plans to follow as the Sky Blues chase silverware in the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season.
“Stay fit and win everything is my goal,” Bojic said.
“It feels really good to be back playing again. I think now I’ve matched preseason minutes with all the game minutes from last season in three or four games.
“To be back feeling fit, it’s great. I hope I’m not too far away from the 100% fitness mark,” he continued.
Bojic was pleased with his performance against the Fury and even came close to opening his account with the Sky Blues, after a rasping drive clattered the cross bar in the first half.
The former Championship winner also praised the Northern Fury for their approach to the match, commending the Queenslanders on the way they handled themselves against Hyundai A-League opposition.
“I thought I did quite well,” Bojic said.
“I was just trying to get back to what I do with my forward runs and overlapping and trying to get crosses in. Overall it’s about trying to play well and stick to the team’s structure,” he continued.
“I thought they [Northern Fury FC] did quite well. It’s always a good thing, and a great game, for state league teams to play a-league teams.
“They always step up with their attitudes and commitments, it’s always going to be tricky and they did well.”
Playing under the tutelage of Arnold, Bojic will link up with former Marniers’ team-mate Bernie Ibini, and the Sydney born defender is looking forward to rekindling the relationship he held with the pacey winger at the Gosford club.
“It’s good to have Bernie back,” said Bojic.
“We had a good link up at our previous club and I think once it’s there it stays there, it doesn’t really change so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes during the season.
“He should be a valuable player for the club.”
Sydney FC’s next match is against Hyundai A-League opposition, the Newcastle Jets, at Townsville Sports Reserve on Wednesday 27 August (kick off 7:30pm).
