Sydney FC attacker Christopher Naumoff believes fans will be in for a treat on Saturday night when the Sky Blues meet Brisbane Roar in the final of the Wingate Townsville Football Cup.
Sydney FC attacker Christopher Naumoff believes fans will be in for a treat on Saturday night when the Sky Blues meet Brisbane Roar in the final of the Wingate Townsville Football Cup (8pm kick off).
The two sides have won both their games against Newcastle Jets and the Northern Fury FC since arriving in Townsville, with the Sky Blues netting seven goals in the process while Roar have notched nine.
“It will be a great game to top off the little tour we’ve had here in Townsville,” he said. “Expect a tough game as usual with Brisbane and we’re looking to win of course.”
Asked about his thoughts on coming up against the current Hyundai A-League champions and their ability, Naumoff was quick to point out the talent Sydney FC has on board.
“We’ll cope fine,” he continued. “It’s another good game to have as we build up to the Hyundai A-League but we’ll just keep playing to our game plan and the structures that we have and it should be a very good game.”
The tour has been a success for Sydney FC with two wins so far and an opportunity to bond and work on team building and fitness that the club may not have got had they stayed at home.
“It’s good to be up here with the hot weather and the games have been great,” said the Young Socceroo. “I’ve also improved on my fitness as well as my game and abilities on the field but it’s all about preparing for the season.”
Naumoff is also of the belief he can have more impact on the first team this year, having made his Sky Blues debut at the start of last season.
“I feel I’m progressing from last year having had a few games in the first team, I feel I’m fitting in well now and I’m looking to improve of that and get more game time.
Sydney FC will play Brisbane Roar in the Final of the Wingate Townsville Football Cup on Saturday night with the match kicking off at 8pm.
