Sydney FC defender Charlotte McLean has re-signed with the Sky Blues on a two-year contract, committing her future to the club ahead of the A-League Women 2026-27’s season.
The 26-year-old central defender returns after re-joining the club for the final two matches of last season following an 18-month stint in the United States with North Carolina Courage and Tampa Bay Sun.
McLean made an immediate impact on her return, helping Sydney FC to an impressive win over Melbourne Victory before playing a key role in the side’s hard-fought away draw with Central Coast Mariners.

A two-time Championship winner and three-time Premiership winner with the Sky Blues, McLean has established herself as one of the club’s most decorated defenders.
She was crowned Sydney FC’s Player of the Season in 2024 and earned selection in the PFA Team of the Season in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns.
Having already made 76 appearances and scored one goal in Sky Blue, McLean says she is delighted to be continuing her journey with the club.
“I’m really excited to be back at Sydney FC for the next two years,” she said.
“Coming back for the final two games of last season reminded me just how special this club is.

“I loved being back around the group, the staff and our Members and fans, and it didn’t take long for me to know this was where I wanted to continue my career.
“We’ve got a really exciting squad, and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season and help this team compete for trophies.”
Sydney FC Women’s Head Coach James Slaveski welcomed McLean’s return, believing her experience and leadership will be invaluable to the squad.
“Charlotte is a top-quality central defender who brings a wealth of experience and a real winning mentality to our group,” he said.
“You could see the impact she had as soon as she came back into the team at the end of last season.
“She gave us composure, organisation and leadership.

“She is a proven performer, understands what it takes to be successful and will be a huge asset for us over the next two seasons.”
McLean is the first of a number of new signings as the Sky Blues continue to rebuild well ahead of the Ninja A-League 2026-27 season.
