Sydney FC pair Nickolas Alfaro and Mathias Macallister have been selected in the CommBank Young Socceroos squad for next month’s 2026 ASEAN U-19 Boys’ Championship in Indonesia.
The Sky Blue youngsters were named in Trevor Morgan’s 23-player squad for the tournament, which will be held in Medan from 1-13 June as Australia continues preparations for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers later this year.
Midfielder Nickolas Alfaro and forward Mathias Macallister are two of 18 players selected from Australian clubs, with the duo rewarded for their impressive performances throughout the season in Sydney FC colours.
Australia has been drawn in Group C alongside Cambodia and the Philippines, with the Young Socceroos aiming to add another ASEAN title to the Green and Gold history
Young Socceroos Head Coach Trevor Morgan said the tournament would play an important role in building depth and experience ahead of upcoming AFC qualification campaigns.
“With our focus firmly on qualifying for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027, this tournament presents an opportunity to broaden our squad and build greater depth within the program,” Morgan said.
Australia open their campaign against the Philippines on Wednesday 3 June before taking on Cambodia on Tuesday 9 June.
