Sydney FC duo Harrison Devenish-Meares and Paul Okon Jnr have been recognised by their fellow professionals after being selected in the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) A-League Men Team of the Season.
In a major honour, Devenish-Meares was named captain of the side after receiving the most votes from players across the league following a stellar campaign between the sticks for the Sky Blues.
The goalkeeper has been one of Sydney FC’s standout performers throughout the season, producing a string of match-winning displays and establishing himself as one of the competition’s premier shot stoppers.

“To be named captain of the Team of the Season feels very humbling and honestly quite surreal,” Devenish-Meares said.
“Just being part of the professional football community in Australia means the world to me.
“To be recognised by my peers in this way is something I’m incredibly grateful for.”
Devenish-Meares was selected as the Team of the Season’s starting goalkeeper and skipper in a squad voted entirely by fellow A-League Men players, underlining the respect he has earned across the competition.

Midfielder Paul Okon Jnr was also recognised following a breakthrough first season in Sky Blue after returning to Australia for his first season of professional football.
The highly-rated youngster earned a place on the Team of the Season bench after an impressive campaign which saw him emerge as one of the competition’s brightest young talents and also earned a call up to the Socceroos.
Okon Jnr’s composure, maturity and technical quality in midfield have made him a key figure in Sydney FC’s run to the Grand Final, with the 20-year-old continuing to enhance his reputation on both the domestic and international stage.
The recognition caps a memorable season for the pair ahead of Saturday’s A-League Men Grand Final, where Sydney FC will look to finish the campaign with championship success.
