Three named in Young Matildas squad for AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup

Three Sky Blues and one former Sky Blue have been named in the Young Matildas squad as they chase continental glory at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup held in Thailand.

Amelia Cassar, Skye Halmarick & Rubi Sullivan have been named in the 23 player squad for the biennial competition with former Sky Blue goalkeeper Jasmine Black also named in the list.

The Australians have been drawn in Group C, alongside Japan, Chinese Taipei and India with progression to the semi finals of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup securing a spot at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup held in Poland in September this year.

The Young Matildas will open their group stage with a clash against Chinese Taipei on Thursday 2nd April kicking off at 8pm Sydney time before a Sunday evening clash with India and closing out the group against Japan.

The trio of stars will depart Australia on Friday so will miss the final two matches of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League season against Melbourne Victory & Central Coast Mariners.

The AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026™ will take place from 1 – 18 April 2026 and serve as the qualification tournament for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Poland 2026™ from 5 – 27 September 2026.
