Sydney FC and CommBank Celebrate International Women’s Day with Inspiring Panel Event
On Monday 9 March, Sydney FC and Commonwealth Bank of Australia came together to celebrate International Women’s Day with a special event recognising the achievements, leadership and impact of women across sport, business and education.
Supported by CommBank, the celebration welcomed guests from existing partners, stakeholders, as well as representatives from Sydney FC and CommBank. The event provided an opportunity to connect, reflect and highlight the important role women continue to play in shaping the future of sport and the wider community.
A highlight of the morning was an engaging panel discussion featuring four inspiring leaders from across different industries. Guests heard insights and personal experiences from:
- Effie Trahanas – Executive Director, Specialised Distribution at CommBank
- Sarah Hunter – Sydney FC Women’s player
- Professor Taryn Jones – Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) at Macquarie University
- Alina Barlow – Founding Shareholder and Director of Sydney FC
The discussion explored leadership, resilience and the progress being made to support and elevate women in their respective fields, while also recognising the work still to be done.
A special thank you also goes to MC Chloe Amanda Bailey, who expertly hosted the event and guided the conversation throughout the morning.
