Remy Loving Life In Denmark

Sydney FC A-League Women’s star Remy Siemsen says she’s absolutely loving her experience living and playing football in Denmark.

The young Sky Blues forward has been training with Danish club Fortuna Hjorring while she awaits a return to Australia with the Matildas for friendlies against Brazil in Sydney at the end of this month.

“I am having a great time in Denmark, we are training twice a day most days with gym and lots of technical work in extra sessions at their facility here,” she said.

“It’s been fun living with three other Matildas and sharing the cooking and whole experience.

“We catch up with other Australian based girls at training which is nice and we have been riding bikes into town and enjoying the Danish menu every couple of days.

“I’m really enjoying the football focus and keeping really fit in readiness for the start of the A-League Women’s season.”

The 21-year old took her first trip to Europe in mid-September as part of the Matildas squad who played Ireland in Dublin.

Since then she has been living and training with the Danish club and fellow Aussies Angela Beard, Alexandra Huynh, Indiah Paige-Riley, Kyrah Cooney Cross and Sydney FC Player Of The Year 2020-21 Clare Wheeler.

“I’m missing the coffee back home that’s for sure haha,” she joked. “We’ve had lots of laughs and plenty of learning experiences being in a new environment and country.

“I’ve been approached a few times by locals thinking I’m Danish and having to explain I’m as Aussie as they come!!

“But everyone here is super welcoming and friendly so it’s made the language barrier not so difficult.

“I’ve really enjoyed this time and am really looking forward to getting home and getting into preseason with the team and catching up with my friends and family.”

Siemsen is expected to return home in time for the two match series with Brazil starting on Saturday 23rd October.
