Macallister Hat-Trick In 7-0 Friendly Win

Sydney FC has defeated NPL2 side Hakoah Sydney City 7-0 in a pre-season friendly thanks to goals from Pat Wood, Jordan Courtney-Perkins, Rhys Youlley, Reef Farias and a hat trick from young goal machine Mathias Macallister.

The match took place in a game of 60 minutes followed by wholesale change for both sides and a 30 minute final period with younger squads.

Moments That Mattered:

3’ | WOOD PEN – Lolley gets the ball on the right anddarts into the box taking on and beating three defenders. A fourth brings him down as he’s about to shoot and the referee points to the spot. The returning Pat Wood steps up and slots the ball home side footed to the keeper’s left.

13’ | COURTNEY-PERKINS GOAL – Good work from Quintal wins a corner from a deflected shot and Lolley’s right wing centre goes to the back post for Rhyan Grant to head it neatly to Courtney-Perkins to nod in from six yards.

41’ | QUINTAL & WOOD CHANCES – Lolley does well to beat his full back and drills the ball hard across goal to Quintal who can’t quite guide his volley on target and from the re-start Hakoah give the ball straight to Hollman who slides it to Wood but the keeper makes a good save from a tight angle.

50’ | YOULLEY GOAL – A bad ball across the back line finds Lolley who rushes forward one on one with the keeper before squaring to Youlley who gets there just before Wood to nudge home.

70’ | MACALLISTER GOAL – Middleton feeds Gultekin in the midfield who turns nicely to thread a ball through to Macallister who places a lovely chip over the keeper.

80’ | MACALLISTER GOAL – Macallister is played in by Lacey with a through ball and he runs on and slots home.

84’ | FARIAS GOAL – The ball falls to Middleton out wide from a corner and he lobs the ball up and back across to Reef Farias who nods home.

85’ | MACALLISTER GOAL – A bad back pass forces the keeper to try to clear and the ball hits the legs of Macallister to seal his hat-trick.

Match Report: Sydney FC has defeated NPL2 side Hakoah 7-0 in their first pre-season friendly.

The Sky Blues were in front early doors when Lolley did well to cut in from the right and beat three defenders before being brought down by a fourth.

Pat Wood stepped up and slotted home the opener from the spot after just three minutes.

It was 2-0 ten minutes later when a Lolley corner from the right was headed back across goal by Rhyan Grant for Courtney-Perkins to nod home.

The very lively Rhys Youlley made it 3-0 after 50 minutes when Hakoah gave the ball away to Lolley who ran clear to square for the Young Socceroo to tap home.

It was wholesale changes after 60 minutes when the Sky Blues starting eleven were replaced by a younger looking side including many Sydney FC Academy players.

And they added a fourth in the 70th minute when a slid pass through from Gultekin found Macallister who kept up his rich goal-scoring form by neatly chipping the keeper.

He followed that up with a second a few minutes later when he was again played in but by Lacey this time to run on an finish well low by the keeper.

Sydney FC made it six from a corner which ended up out wide and was played back across by Jared Middleton to the head of Reef Farias to nod home.

The seventh came a minute later when a poor back pass from the Hakoah centre half forced the keeper to clear straight against the legs of Macallister as he closed down, and the ball ricocheted into the net for the final goal of the game.

Sydney FC take on Wrexham AFC next Tuesday night at Allianz Stadium at 7.30pm.
