Sydney FC have been drawn against Western United away in the Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32 and Sydney FC captain Rhyan Grant is wanting his side to have a strong run in the competition.
The Sky Blues were one of the last names out of the pot on Wednesday night’s live draw and will take part in an all Isuzu UTE A-League clash with the Green and Black from Victoria.
“I think getting an A-League team will be a good test early doors and we want to have a cup run this season and this will give us a good idea of where we are at.
“The motivation of some of the NPL sides are that they are always up for it and being in season, they are firing on all cylinders,” Grant said.
“Regardless it is going to be a tough game as they are a quality side.”

The Sky Blues will take on Wrexham AFC before their first Cup encounter however Western United are currently experiencing alleged troubles off the field with ownership which Grant believes won’t have an impact on their performance.
“As soon as the whistle goes for the game you want to 100% win and no matter what is going on, your mind is focused on the game and I assume that will be the same for them.
“They are a good side and had a good season last season and it will be a good test for us and hopefully we can come out on top,” he concluded.
