Sydney FC’s latest signing Sian McLaren is excited to be once again guarding the Sky Blue’s goal this Westfield W-league 2014 season.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper played with Sydney FC in 2012/13 season, claiming the Championship with the Sky Blues, and has returned to the club, playing her first match at the weekend against the Western Sydney Wanderers, following the injury of Casey Dumont.
McLaren said the decision to come back to Sydney FC was an easy one and is pleased to be playing with such a progressive club where she holds such fond memories.
“When they called me to offer the position, I didn’t want to turn it down,” she said.
“I really like Sydney FC as a club and this was a good opportunity to get some decent training.
“I think they have great support and the club as a whole is moving forward.”
After having last week’s derby match to settle in with the new line up, McLaren is confident her future is bright.
“I am feeling a lot more relaxed after my first game back,” she said.
“I just want to remain consistent throughout the rest of the season and then hopefully open up the option for Australian selection.”
Sydney FC’s shot-stopper will make her second appearance for the club this weekend as they come up against Brisbane Roar and McLaren’s prediction is that the Sky Blues will finish on top.
“Individually I will be going into the game with all confidence,” she said.
“We are the better team so we can definitely win.”
Sydney FC will take on Brisbane Roar at Lambert Park, Leichhardt on Saturday 1st November (kick off 5pm). Follow @SydneyFC on Twitter for LIVE match updates as the Sky Blues look to make it two from two against their Queensland rivals.
