Douglas Costa made his return from injury last week in the 4-1 victory over Brisbane Roar in the Isuzu UTE A-League and now he is setting his sights on the Sydney Derby.
The Brazilian marquee has really taken to life in Sydney and will be looking to make a good impact on Saturday in the 41st Sydney Derby.
“I don’t think I will be starting but I will help my team with whatever role I am given.
“I work every day to be fit so if I am back earlier it doesn’t really surprise me but all I want to do is help my team win,” Costa said.
“I love the Derby games and I really like to play these sort of matches.”
The forward found the net twice against Adelaide United last year and followed up the following week with an assist against Melbourne Victory before limping off with a hamstring injury.
Moving forward for the rest of the campaign, the Brazilian just wants to help his team as much as possible.
“I think this city is amazing and my wife and daughter love it too so I hope I can finish the season in some good form.
“I am really happy to be back at the right time and all I want to do is help my team mates in one of the most important games for us,” he continued.
Finally, the 34-year-old commented on the potential appearance of the Wanderer’s marquee Juan Mata who is in doubt for the contest.
“Juan is a good friend and an amazing player.
“For the show I would love to see him play but whether he does or not, who knows.”
