Match Report
Sydney FC has drawn 3-3 at Isuzu-UTE A-League second placed Adelaide United after a stunning comeback late in the game.
The Reds opened the scoring through Goodwin in the 16th minute but the Sky Blues were level shortly after through a fabulous left foot shot from Douglas Costa.
Stefan Mauk regained the lead for Adelaide before Joe Lolley came extremely close to equalising on the stroke of half time.
The Sky Blues put the pressure on early in the second half forcing Delianov into a number of saves before Gurd headed against the bar.
But the pressure didn’t count and Barnett made it three for the home side in the 54th minute.
Douglas Costa added a second just before the 90th minute and then fired in a corner to allow Courtney-Perkins to head home in the final minute.
Sydney FC face Melbourne Victory next Saturday night on 28th December at Allianz Stadium at 7.35pm.
What They Said: Ufuk Talay: “Douglas Costa is an important player for us, and for the league.
“Overall I’m pleased the boys worked hard until the last minute to at least get a point away from home.
“Very proud they kept going and we had some very good moments. Overall the stats say we are performing well but we are leaking too many goals.”
Douglas Costa: “I’m really happy that I help my team. I was injured five weeks ago and now there’s nothing better to help my guys and to score goals.
“Now it’s time to climb the ladder and get some points.
“I’m new here and we have a lot of young players and they are very good and day by day we will get better.
“I’m enjoying today and feeling better and better, I’m loving Sydney.”
Rhyan Grant: “Overall it wasn’t a great performance for us but we spoke about character and it was nice to get a couple of late ones and snatch a point so we’ll take it,
“Douglas Costa has that x-factor and has something special and you saw tonight he’s been involved in all three goals, he’s a special player.
“We snatched it and that’s a massive positive but that wasn’t a great performance.”
