Sydney FC midfielder Terry Antonis has been ruled out of the Socceroo squad for the clash with Japan in Osaka on 18 November.
Antonis was involved in a minor traffic accident while driving to Sydney Airport to travel to Japan on Sunday evening.
Antonis was transported to hospital suffering head and neck pain. He was released later on Sunday evening after undergoing scans at the hospital that cleared him of any major injury.
Following a medical examination by the Sydney FC Club Doctor on Monday and the Socceroo medical staff, Head Coach Ange Postecoglou ruled him out of the match as it was not in Terry’s best interests to fly to Japan.
Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said: “We will be monitoring Terry’s physical recovery and following the FFA Concussion Policy before he is able to return to the field.”
Postecoglou has named Swiss-based midfielder Oliver Bozanic as Antonis’ replacement in the squad.
