Sydney FC has secured the services of promising young defender Aaron Gurd for another season, keeping him at the club through to the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Gurd, a standout product of the Sydney FC Academy, is poised to continue his growth as part of the club’s exciting young defensive lineup.
23-year old Gurd expressed his pride in remaining with the club that gave him his professional start.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Sydney FC for showing faith in me,” Gurd said.
“This club has always been my home, and I’m proud to continue representing the Sky Blues.
“The Academy gave me my start, and to still be here, working to repay the club’s belief in me, is an honour.
“Playing in the derby against the Wanderers earlier this season was a special moment, and I can’t wait to keep working hard and contributing to the team as we push for success.”
Head Coach Ufuk Talay emphasized the club’s confidence in Gurd and his potential to solidify his place within the squad.
“I’m very happy for Aaron,” Talay said. “The club has shown a lot of faith in him, even during his time out with injuries, and we’re delighted to extend his contract for another season.
“We see great potential in Aaron, and I believe he can become a mainstay in our young back line.
“I thought Aaron did very well against the Wanderers in what was a tough game.
“To be thrown into a match like that and to perform as he did was impressive.
“The club’s support of him during challenging times reflects our belief in his ability to contribute significantly moving forward.”
Gurd will be part of the Sky Blues squad who take on Adelaide United tomorrow night and against Melbourne Victory in the Big Blue on December 28th.
