Sydney FC winger Ali Abbas has called on all Sky Blues Members and fans to turn out at Allianz Stadium on Saturday as Sydney FC contest the beyondblue Cup against age old rivals the Melbourne Victory (kick off 7:30pm).
The two teams have a history that traces back to round one of season one, and Abbas believes the Sky Blues will be in for a tough evening as they look to stretch their unbeaten run to six consecutive games.
“Every team doesn’t want to lose any games especially in the first 10 rounds,” he said.
“We’re going to go out and give our best. It’s going to be a good game in front of our fans and hopefully we’re going to get a full house.
“I’m always excited to play in front of our fans. I think it’s going to be a good game and hopefully we can make the fans happy,” he continued.
“Its going to be really difficult for us, Melbourne are a very good team.
“They are the most difficult team we’ll play against and we need to show the other teams that we’ll be difficult to play against too so hopefully we can do it easy on Saturday.”
The Victory have only won one of their last 10 games away to Sydney FC and Abbas believes that while the mood will be reminiscent of the Sydney Derby, the Sky Blues must focus solely on themselves.
“It will be the same mood [as against Western Sydney],” he said.
“Melbourne Victory is a big team and they have a lot of fans but we have a lot of fans as well and hopefully we have all our fans there on Saturday.
“We only care about our team, what we have to do, and what we have to do to take the three points.
“All I can say is we need to come and give 100% for the fans make everyone happy, get the three points and get the job done.”
