With the Sydney Derby just three days away, tensions are once again running hot in the Bouzanis family.
Sydney FC‘s promising young glovesman Anthony Bouzanis will be watching on Saturday night as the Sky Blues take on a Western Sydney Wanderers side that includes his big brother Dean.
Anthony is hopeful that the Sky Blues can replicate their first derby encounter this season and again come away with the three points.
“The fact that Dean plays for the Wanderers just makes the occasion even more important for me,” Anthony said.
“The boys played well and fought really hard to come back in the last derby and I’m hoping that they can do the same this week.”
Anthony still has family bragging rights after the Wanderers let a two goal lead slip in this season’s first derby with Sydney FC snatching a remarkable 3-2 victory in front of sold out crowd of 41,213 fans at Allianz Stadium.
Dean, who is also a goalkeeper, has been an important mentor for Anthony but when it comes to the derby both brothers’ embrace the sibling rivalry.
“We still live together and we’re very close but we try not to give too much away, so it’s best to avoid talking tactics in case you let some important information slip,” said Anthony.
A victory over the Wanderers this Saturday would further extend Western Sydney’s winless record this season and give Anthony plenty of ammunition to use before the sides meet again in February.
