Experienced heads to play role – Hawkesby

Sydney FC dispatched Adelaide United with a 3-0 win on Sunday afternoon, which has put the team in the position to win the Liberty A-League Premiership in a mid-week game in Canberra on Wednesday afternoon.

Winning the premiership this year would make history, a fourth consecutive premiership in a row which has never been done before in A-Leagues history.

Despite scoring three and keeping a clean sheet against Adelaide United on Sunday afternoon, Ante Juric wasn’t happy with the performance and knows his side need to be better.

“I don’t think we were at our best; we have had a lot of games recently and with travel.

“Our intensity was not there, things we worked on, we did not do because we were a step behind,” he said.

Ante does not want to change much in preparations for the game on Wednesday though, as he believes the way they normally play should be enough to take the premiership.

“We are already thinking about Wednesday.

“We will train on Monday, but it will be light, see how the girls have recovered.

“When we go there, we’ll play our same way” he added.

Mackenzie Hawkesby got on the score sheet on Sunday with a stunning strike from outside the box in the 24th minute. She was asked after the game about how the team is feeling ahead of the big game on Wednesday.

“It’s just another game and we just need to focus on getting the three points.

“We have some pretty experienced heads in the team, we have won premierships before, so we know what to do” She concluded.

Hawkesby hits it from 25 yards into the top right corner.

The team will travel down to Canberra on Tuesday to best prepare for the game at McKellar Park on Wednesday, 27th of March at 4 pm.
