Anthony Caceres is excited about where his team are heading ahead of Saturday’s clash with Adelaide United.
Coming off the back of a great win last weekend against the Central Coast Mariners, all the players are buying into what Ufuk Talay is attempting to do and the style he wants to play.
His high energy and high intensity pressing is creating plenty of chances for players and the entertainment value is high which the number 17 is enjoying being part of.
“The philosophy is entertaining in itself which sees us be the protagonist in games.
“If we do that well, it gives us the best chance to show what we can do with the ball in attack and go forward and try to score goals,” Caceres said.
“The style we strive to play is very physically demanding and did take us some time to adapt to, but I think we have now reached a good level of conditioning and we are all capable of running out a game.
“We are building nicely and there is a good feeling about the club. There is a lot of energy and enthusiasm from the team and it is about consistency and trying to perfect what we do.”
Last time that the Sky Blues faced Adelaide United was a see-saw 4-3 game in which Caceres scored the opening goal before the Reds went ahead 4-1. A late Joe Lolley brace almost salvaged a point for Sydney FC but they weren’t able to find another way past James Delianov.
This time around, despite the talents that Adelaide have in their ranks, Caceres is focusing internally and not getting distracted by the outside noise.
“Our focus is always on what we do and how we can improve each week.
“If we execute our game plan to an ideal level then it’ll give us a good chance of winning the game but the important thing is that we start with high energy that will set the tone for the game and hopefully allow us to play football,” Caceres added.
“Last time we met was an entertaining game and they have some dangerous players. Obviously enough has been said about Irankunda and what he can do, but in that last meeting we scored three goals which is a good sign.
“Defensively, we could’ve been better on the day but we are confident that if we execute out game plan then we should be able to walk away with a good result.”
All the action kicks off from 6pm AEDT at Allianz Stadium in what should be an entertaining back and forth affair with 13 goals scored in the previous two matches between the two sides.
