The Isuzu UTE A-League’s biggest star Joe Lolley has signed a new contract with Sydney FC keeping him playing football at Allianz Stadium for another two seasons.
Lolley has been the A-League’s best player this season and is set to continue to dazzle crowds with his attacking brilliance during the prime years of his career.
The recently turned 31-year-old leads the Alex Tobin Medal leaderboard for the competition’s top player and his stats over his 18 months as a Sky Blue are second to none.
Lolley leads the way in assists (12), shots (118), successful dribbles (89) and chances created from open play (72) across the whole league since arriving in the A-League.
He also ranks second in successful passes into the box (150), third in key passes (82) and big chances created (92) and fourth in assists and goals combined (23).
His happiness and desire to stay with the club and in Sydney, led to him turning down overtures from other A-League clubs and he is looking forward to a big few years ahead.
“It feels like we are building something very special under Uffy at Sydney FC and I can’t wait to be a part of it for the foreseeable future,” he said.
“It is an exciting club to be involved with, our football is dynamic, attacking and lots of fun to play in, plus we’ve a great camaraderie amongst the boys.
“I love being here and living in this wonderful city, so I’m delighted to be signing for two more years.”
Head Coach Ufuk Talay praised the contribution Lolley has made and believes he will go onto become a club legend.
“Joe is one of our leaders and his form this season has been first class,” he said.
“He has embraced what we are about as a team and as a club and I know our Members will be delighted to know they can see him perform during the prime years of his career.
“Joe has the potential to win a lot more trophies for this club and if he does that, then he will be up there with the greats of Sydney FC.”
Lolley has scored 12 goals in 44 appearances for the Sky Blues and won the Mark Viduka Medal for the player of the Australia Cup Final this season.
