In the face of scorching temperatures reaching 37 degrees, participants demonstrated unwavering enthusiasm and resilience during our postponed International Day of Disability celebrations at the state of the art Allianz Stadium.
Two likeminded partners, I’mpossible and Dejay Medical, played a crucial role in facilitating a range of engaging activities throughout the day. These organisations brought their expertise and passion for inclusive sport to create enjoyment and generate excitement among participants.
The major delivery partner for the event was Community Health Group, who recently signed on as the front-of-jersey sponsor for the Sydney FC Powerchair team. They provided experienced support workers to assist at each station ensuring individuals could participate to the best of their ability.
The feedback from participants and their families echoed the sentiment of a day filled with smiles, laughter and a sense of belonging. The spirit displayed in the face of challenging weather conditions highlighted the power of sport, specifically football, to transcend barriers and bring people together.
The Sydney FC Foundation is proud to be at the forefront of promoting inclusive sport, and this event is just one way in which we are creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to engage in the beautiful game and the broader community.
A special acknowledgment goes out to the Foundation volunteers whose energy and hard work were instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the event.
For those wishing to support the Sydney FC Foundation’s commitment to disability sports programs, there is an opportunity to make a difference. Donations to the Foundation can be made here to support ongoing initiatives that promote inclusivity and belonging through football.
