Sydney FC Cup a huge success once again

The Sydney FC Cup was held once again over the last fortnight which gave Boys and Girls SAP teams from around the country the chance to compete for glory.

The girls competition was held first, with 450 players taking to the pitch across two days and six fields.

30 teams entered across two age groups with Manly United and NWS Spirit winning the Sydney FC Cup in the end, with Spirit winning via a nervy conclusion, penalties.

The boys competition was held the following Thursday and Friday at the same venue and like the Girls, competition was as fierce as ever.

Both events contained a signing session with the Isuzu UTE A-League Men & Liberty A-League Women teams

22 teams entered for their chance at glory and 264 players took to the pitch for some quality football.

Congratulations to Manly United who won both the U12’s and U11’s competitions in tightly fought contests.

Overall in both the boys and girls events, every team played a minimum of six matches against different oppositions, giving teams the opportunity to test out new playing styles and give everyone a chance of getting minutes on the park. In total 52 teams entered and 714 players took to the pitch which was fantastic to see.

Griffith FC made the long journey from regional NSW

Special mention to Griffith FC and Gold Coast United who made the long journey to Sydney to take part in the competition and all competitors should be congratulated on their fantastic sportsmanship throughout.
