Sydney FC has agreed terms with Danish club Aab Aalborg for the transfer of Spanish left back Diego Caballo.
The former Real Madrid Academy and Deportivo La Coruna player signed for the Sky Blues at the start of last season.
Despite only 12 months with Sydney FC, the 29-year old was full of praise for his experience.
“Thank you to everyone for welcoming my family and making us feel at home, especially the Members who showed me so much affection this year.
“I can only wish the club, my teammates and the Members and fans the best.
“I take with me a beautiful story that has helped me grow as a player and as a person.”
Caballo’s departure, along with several other players, has opened up space in the salary cap and roster to make new additions to the squad in the weeks ahead, with 18 players currently signed for next season.
Head Coach Steve Corica thanked the Spaniard for his commitment and service to the Sky Blues.
“Diego did extremely well adapting to a new culture, new language, a new football environment and a new way of life,” he said.
“He worked extremely hard and became a very well-liked and committed member of the squad.
“Diego was made a good offer which was lucrative for both him and the club and both parties were happy to accept.
“We wish him the very best with the move and his future career.”
Caballo made 28 appearances for Sydney FC and scored two goals.
