Corica: 300 games an amazing achievement

Steve Corica has hailed “amazing” club legend Rhyan Grant as he prepares to make a record 300th appearance for the Sky Blues.

Grant runs out against Western United at Allianz Stadium on Saturday to become the first player to make 300 appearances for Sydney FC in a career that started way back in 2008 as a 17-year-old.

Rhyan Grant played in the same team as Corica during his early years and the Head Coach was quick to praise the enormity of this achievement.

“It is really amazing. For someone to reach 300 games at one club shows he has a great attitude.

“He is a great guy to have around the club, an amazing footballer and he keeps getting better and better,” Corica said.

“He really deserves congratulations for this achievement.

“We only play 26 games a season here in Australia so to get to 300 at one club is pretty good.

“He’s been here for over 10 years, he’s going to play 300 games and I think people should come out and celebrate him for this.”

Ahead of the Western United clash, Corica believes that this weekend is the perfect chance to bounce back after the International Break.

“Everyone was disappointed with the Derby. The players were disappointed, we were disappointed. We have to look forward and be positive for the next game.

“It’s all about this Saturday’s game. You win that and it changes the picture again,” Corica said.

“We’ve had a good couple of weeks of training and with the International boys returning, we’re ready for this game.”
