Sydney FC Smash Melbourne In Big Blue Thriller

Sydney FC have smashed Melbourne Victory 6-3 in a Big Blue thriller.

A hat-trick from Princess Ibini and goals from Mackenzie Hawkesby, Madison Haley and Cortnee Vine completed the rout as the Sky Blues move within three points of the top of the Liberty A-League.

IBINI GOAL – 25’- Hawkesby’s corner is headed back into the six yard box by Rule and Ibini is there to force is over the line.

HAWKESBY GOAL – 30’ – Vine slots the ball into the path of Hawkesby who’s speed takes her to the ball just ahead of the goalkeeper to poke it home with her left foot.

IBINI GOAL – 36’ – Hunter is brought down in the box and a penalty is awarded. Ibini steps up but her initial shot is saved however she sinks the rebound.

Hawkesby makes it 2-0.

MADSEN GOAL – 42’ – Madsen closes down a clearance from Franco in the Sydney FC goal and the ball ricochets into the net.

PRIVITELLI GOAL – 45’+3’ – A left wing crossfalls to Privitelli at the back post who slides in to slot home.

HALEY GOAL – 45’+4’ – Hawkesby’s corner from the left is headed home powerfully by American Haley.

VINE GOAL – 48’ – Vine is released behind and she rounds the replacement keeper and slots it into the empty net.

IBINI HAT-TRICK – 60’ – Cortnee Vine creates space on the wing and squares it back to Ibini who smashes it home for her third and our sixth.

HALEY PENALTY SAVED – 67’ – Vine draws the handball and Sydney FC have a penalty but Haley has the penalty saved.

MARKOVSKI SCORES PENALTY – 88’ – A harsh handball is ruled against Shay Hollman and Markovski steps up to slot it home.

Princess Ibini converts the rebound from her penalty.

“I’m happy. You can’t say you’re not when you are winning, scoring six and getting three points but we did concede three stupid goals.

“That’s not good but going forward we had a lot of chances and we had a lot of intent which was really good and a lot of players were at eight out of 10 compared to our last game.”

Match Report:  Sydney FC have demolished Melbourne Victory 6-3 in a Big Blue battle for the ages.

The Sky Blues hit three unanswered goals thorough Ibini (2) and Hawkesby inside 36 minutes before two goals just before the break brought Melbourne back into it.

However on the stroke of half time a Maddy Haley header gave the Sky Blues a 4-2 lead at the break.

The goal fest continue in the second half with Vine making it 5-2 just after the break and Ibini completing her hat-trick on the hour.

Haley had a penalty saved to make it seven goals before Markovski hit a consolation late on with a final score of 6-3.
