Sydney FC’s PlayStation 4 NPL 2 NSW Mens side went down 3-2 to Fraser Park at Fraser Park on Saturday night.
The Sky Blues opened brightly and had the Fraser Park defence under early pressure as they peppered the opposition goal.
However it was against the run of play that Fraser Park took the lead in the 15th minute when a well taken free kick was placed over the wall and into the top corner.
The next twenty five minutes was all Sydney FC as the Sky Blues continued to dominate possession and play in the opposition half.
Bai Antoniou hit the crossbar twice and also saw a shot smothered by the keeper from close range while Juan Zapata also nicked the woodwork and had a shot well saved by the Fraser custodian.
Then from a rare foray into the Sydney FC penalty area Fraser Park took a low shot across the face of goal, with the ball sneaking inside the far post, as they led 2-0 going into the break.
The second half started much the same as Sydney FC again dominated proceedings but with not much reward in front of goal as chance after chance was created by the young Sky Blues.
The breakthrough eventually came just after the hour mark when former Joey Daniel Maskin was injected into the game.
Maskin made an immediate impact as he outpaced his defender on the left and drove to the byline before cutting back the ball for Antoniou to rifle in a sweet left footer to reduce the margin to 2-1.
In the 82nd minute the Sky Blues hit the post for the fourth time as Maskin watched his effort bounce off the post and outside, but the ensuing cross from Nicola Kuleski was met at the far post by Patrick Flottman with a close range header to restore parity.
Agonisingly, minutes later a Fraser free kick into the Sydney FC penalty area fell kindly to the opposition and the ball was sent over the top of keeper Mitch Evans and into the net to complete the 3-2 result.
Sydney FC 2 (Bai Antoniou 64′; Patrick Flottman 83′) def. by Fraser Park 3 (Jordan Roberts; Nathan Sansom; Zac Ribeiro).
