Sydney FC’s AFC Champions League group campaign will get back underway in Doha, Qatar next month after an agreement was reached between the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
The AFC Champions League (East), which will be played between November 18 and December 13, 2020, follows the successful completion of the AFC Champions League (West) in Qatar earlier this year.
Sydney FC have four group stage games remaining, as they come up against the might of Shanghai SIPG, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Yokohama F. Marinos, with the 2020 Hyundai A-League Champions currently sitting in third place.
Head Coach Steve Corica said he was delighted to have everything confirmed and said the squad were looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“It’s pleasing to now know where we’ll be playing and when, and we’re looking forward to the trip providing we get the right bio security clearances and approvals,” he said.
“We have unfinished business in Group H and the boys are really looking forward to getting stuck back in against the best in Asia.
“These games will also provide the perfect platform for our preparations of the new season as we look to defend our Premiership and Championship crowns.”
