Sydney FC have had to settle for a point in their opening AFC Champions League match against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors despite controlling the majority of the game and creating the best of the chances.

REDMAYNE SAVE – 5’ – A ball is pulled back from the byline but Kunimoto drills it straight at Redmayne.
CACERES SHOT CLOSE – 19’ – Caceres strikes one from range and it flashes just past the post.
BUHAGIAR SHOT SAVED – 28’ – Yazbek breaks and slides the ball into Buhagiar who is clear but the keeper gets a hand to the ball as the striker tries to lift it over him.
LE FONDRE SHOT SAVED – 57’ – Burgess slides in Le Fondre who shoots low but Bumsoo saves low with his foot.
BUHAGIAR SHOT BLOCKED – 58’ – Yazbek wins the ball in midfield and feeds Buhagiar who shoots right footed but a defender blocks it last minute.
GRANT CREATES A CHANCE – 72’ – Grant gets to the byline after a neat one-two and crosses across the face but a Korean defender flicks the ball away just as Buhagiar was about to pounce.
TALBOT SHOT SAVED – 76’ – Narsingh lays the ball back to Talbot who shoots and the ball ricochets into the air and a back peddling keeper has to tip it over.
REDMAYNE SAVE – 87’ – A left wing cross is met by the head of Barrow who puts it straight at Redmayne to catch.
AMINI CHANCE – 90’+1’ – Narsingh gets the ball out wide and cuts back in to lay the ball to Amini who after taking a touch has a shot from the edge of the box but it’s blocked.

Alex Wilkinson: “I’m a little bit disappointed with that result, I think we had enough good chances to score at least one goal.
“As a whole our team defended really and I’m a little bit disappointed we couldn’t capitalize on the chances we had but it’s only the first game so we’ve got another game really soon so we need to recover quickly and hopefully we can get the win in the next game.”

Sydney FC have drawn their opening AFC Champions League match in Vietnam against Korean Champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors 0-0 but dominated the game and created numerous chances to win it.
The Sky Blues were stopped by the Man of the Match goalkeeper Lee Bumsoo who denied Buhagiar, Le Fondre and Talbot with three excellent saves.
Korean defenders also blocked goal-bound chances from Amini, Grant and Buhagiar while at the other end Andrew Redmayne had to be alert to save a couple of Jeonbuk efforts.
A point may not suit either side with Yokohama F.Marinos defeating Vietnamese side Hoang Anh Gia Lai 2-1 to go top of the group, with only the group winners guaranteed a spot in the last 16.
However there are still five games to go for both.
